The QMDI uses direct imaging technology to expose and develop plates that are stored on the press and advanced as needed. After plates are imaged and developed, the QMDI functions as a true sheetfed printing press using waterless ink technology which allows ink densities to be run higher than conventional ink settings. The results are evident with deeper and more vibrant CMYK color combinations. Additionally, waterless spot colors can be specified for colors that are not attainable with CMYK process.

The QM 46-2 is designed for adding spot colors and varnishes to CMYK jobs printed on the QMDI. Additionally, this press functions independently of the QMDI for printing 1- and 2-color work as well as litho scoring and perfing.
